Lessons in Life

"There are more important things to do in life than to wait a seemingly eternal queue of name enumerations just to get a piece of certification that congratulates you about being who you are."

That's what I used to say every single 4 recognition day events in my 11th grade at St. Paul University Dumaguete whenever my parents nor my guardians can't come with me on the stage.

Indeed, I was a naturally dependent person. I remember when I used to feel desolated while eating my lunch at school alone. I remember when I used to feel disconsolate while going home from school alone. I remember when I used to struggle while doing things alone. Truly I depend on the people most especially to my family and friends whom are closest to my heart.

“But then I realized I was holding onto something that didn’t exist anymore. That the person I missed didn’t exist anymore. People change. The things we like and dislike change. And we could wish all day long that they didn’t, but they always will.”
~ Sarah Ockler

But then I realized the people closest to your heart are not in presence at all times. For which I have thought that I should have trained myself the other way around. I should have done the exact opposite. I should have been brave. I should have not depended on them. So that, I could have received my award at the stage and made my family proud of me. I could have eaten my lunch peacefully and become healthy. I could have went home earlier and get some sleep. And, I could have get things done more efficiently.

Just remember...

“The time you feel lonely is the time you most need to be by yourself.”
~ Douglas Coupland
